The challenge
One of Europe's 500 biggest companies needed to monitor the financial and operational performance of its growing e-mobility business — charging station utilization, availability and revenue — while also managing risk in the energy market. Their existing analytical assets needed to move onto a modern, scalable foundation without disrupting the reporting the business relied on.
What we did
Led the migration to Microsoft Fabric, designing the Bronze and Silver Lakehouses and the Gold dimensional Data Warehouse, with source-to-destination mapping to control the data distillation process.
Guided the team through the Databricks migration, expanding notebooks to record SCD Type 2 history in Delta Tables and building the SQL pipelines that populate the full dimensional warehouse, including SCD Type 6 dimensions.
Built the semantic model and DAX measures underpinning the Power BI reports, empowering business analysts to run their own analyses.
Developed Power BI reports on charging station performance, covering utilization, availability and revenue, with drill-through, bookmarks, role-based security and paginated reports for ad-hoc downloads.
Established a data quality process, with automated controls and monitoring reports migrated into the new Fabric notebooks and pipelines.
The impact
His in-depth knowledge of BI tools and professionalism are standing out and helped deliver 1st class Power BI reports. What I really enjoy about Matt is his ability to connect with people, he is a true professional and team player.
